[FGC]DRX KNEE Takes EVO Japan 2025 TEKKEN 8 Championship & Qualifies to EWC 2025

12 May 2025

DRX is the first Korean team to qualify for at least 3 titles at EWC 2025 and proves to be a global esports powerhouse

Jaemin “KNEE” Bae from the premier esports and gaming organization, DRX, has claimed the EVO Japan 2025 Championship in the TEKKEN 8 category; the most prestigious fighting game tournament that was held in Tokyo, Japan from May 9th to 11th.

This year’s EVO Japan was the largest in history, drawing approximately 9,300 participants and garnering worldwide attention. EVO Japan’s TEKKEN 8 category in particular drew the top players around the globe, with 800 TEKKEN WORLD TOUR (TWT) points and four qualification slots for the 2025 Esports World Cup (EWC) up for grabs. With this championship, KNEE has returned to the top of the EVO world stage for the first time since EVO Las Vegas 2022, marking his fourth EVO title and an astonishing 122nd championships to his on-going legendary career.

Since his debut in 2004, KNEE has remained a dominant force at the highest level of competition for over two decades. He is not only a legend in the TEKKEN scene, but also a symbolic figure in the global esports scene.

With DRX KNEE’s placement at EVO Japan 2025, DRX has officially secured qualification for the 2025 Esports World Cup (EWC) in three titles: Street Fighter 6 (LeShar), PUBG Mobile (DRX PUBGM), and TEKKEN 8 (KNEE).

The EWC 2025 will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia over approximately seven weeks starting in July. This global esports event will feature top teams and players from around the world across various categories. Moonsup “LeShar” Shin qualified for EWC 2025 by finishing in 3rd Place at CAPCOM CUP 11 in March 2025 and further demonstrated his consistency with a 5th Place finish in EVO Japan 2025 Street Fighter 6 category. The DRX PUBG Mobile team secured their place at EWC 2025 by taking home the PMPS Season 1 Championship, reinforcing the organization’s strong presence in the mobile esports scene.

With the conclusion of EVO Japan 2025, DRX became the first Korean organization to qualify for the EWC 2025 in three separate titles, reaffirming its strength and competitiveness on the global stage. KNEE’s championship also drew major attention locally in Japan, trending in Yahoo Japan’s Top 10 news. His win has further elevated DRX’s international reputation and heightened anticipation for their performance at the upcoming EWC 2025 tournament.
