[VALORANT]DRX outplay T1 to win the 2025 VCT Pacific Kickoff

10 Feb 2025

Both DRX and T1 are headed to VALORANT Masters Bangkok to represent the Pacific.

The 2025 VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Pacific Kickoff has concluded with DRX dominating the region and securing the grand final victory against T1 with a 3-2 scoreline.

DRX dominated the upper bracket, defeating Nongshim RedForce 2-1 before sweeping rivals Gen.G Esports and outclassing T1 to reach the grand finals.

Meanwhile, T1 also had a strong start, remaining in the upper bracket for most of the tournament. They pulled off an upset against tournament favourites Paper Rex but fell to the lower bracket finals after losing to DRX in the upper bracket finals. However, they bounced back by defeating Gen.G 3-2, securing their first-ever VCT grand final appearance.

Here’s how the grand finals went:

DRX came out swinging on their map pick Abyss, dominating the first half by winning 10 rounds, with T1 managing only two after a timeout. The second half was no different, as DRX quickly closed out the map 13-3 with a 3-1 half.

T1 started strong in the second game on Lotus, winning the first five rounds convincingly. DRX responded with a thrifty round win to get on the board and began catching up, but T1 held their ground to take the first half 7-5.

The second half saw scrappy engagements, with T1 maintaining control and extending their lead to 12-6 at match point. BuzZ was the standout performer, securing 20 kills and helping his team secure crucial rounds. T1 closed out the game to take a 13-6 victory.

The third game on Fracture was an intense back-and-forth battle. DRX took the first two rounds and extended their lead to 5-0 before T1 fought back, preventing DRX from running away with the game. However, DRX maintained control, leading 8-4 at halftime.

In the second half, T1 continued to challenge DRX, closing the gap to 10-6 before DRX called a timeout. T1 fought back to bring the score to 11-9, but DRX outplayed them in the final rounds, securing a 13-9 win and reaching match point in the series.

In the fourth game on Bind, both teams were on alert with DRX immediately taking the lead. While DRX maintained their lead, T1 fought tooth-and-nail to keep the gap between them close, eventually ending up with a 7-5 score in favour of DRX in the first half. T1 continued to claw their way through each round, and when it seemed impossible they caught up to DRX 12-12 pushing the game to overtime. T1 continued on this momentum, taking 2 more wins to win the fourth game and stretching the series to five games.

In the fifth game decider on Split, both DRX and T1 were neck-and-neck, with DRX only two points ahead 7-5 in the first half. Both teams continued to take one win after the other. However, DRX still prevailed in the end, taking the final win 13-11 to win the game, and the series, to become the 2025 VCT Pacific Kickoff champions.

With their win, DRX gain three Pacific Points and become the VCT Pacific’s first seed into Masters Bangkok. Meanwhile, T1 also qualify for Masters Bangkok and also gaining 2 Pacific points.
