The KIWOOM DRX Homefront 2026 event offers Vietnamese audiences a world-class eSports experience with first-ever LCK matches.
The event brought together the home team KIWOOM DRX along with two "giants," Gen.G Esports and Hanwha Life Esports – top teams in the international League of Legends scene.
This also marks the first time official League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) matches have been held in front of Vietnamese audiences, providing a chance for the domestic LoL fan community to directly experience the authentic LCK competitive atmosphere. According to the CEO of KRX, approximately 12,000 spectators were present at VEC over the weekend to watch the match.
The HLE players continuously energized the stage, enjoying the enthusiastic atmosphere from the fans and delivering a vibrant performance for the Vietnamese audience. Notably, player Gumayusi appeared wearing a Vietnamese conical hat during the opening segment, receiving much applause from the stands as a way of sending greetings and affection to the Vietnamese fans.
Thousands of League of Legends fans were present at the event to watch the match and cheer for the two teams. In the stands, many signs cheering for Tran Bao Minh – the Vietnamese player currently playing for DRX – attracted the attention of a large audience.
The highlight of the match was the impressive performance of Tran Bao Minh – the Vietnamese player wearing the DRX jersey. In the first game, he directly faced Gumayusi and shone with the champion Miss Fortune, contributing to DRX's dominance over their opponent after only 26 minutes of play. Although HLE used their experience to come back in the next two games, LazyFeel's outstanding performance still showed DRX's potential to compete against top teams in the world .
Tran Bao Minh shared that he still wants to strive harder for Vietnamese eSports. “I feel I haven’t contributed much to the country’s eSports yet, but I am committed to continuing to try,” the DRX player said. Despite facing top teams like Gen.G and HLE, DRX still left a strong impression. After a tenacious performance against Gen.G, the “Blue Dragons” continued their explosive performance against HLE on May 10th, receiving great support from Vietnamese fans.
This event showcased the growing appeal of Vietnamese esports, as the domestic fan community received recognition and direct interaction from top teams like DRX. The appearance of young players like Tran Bao Minh further affirmed Vietnam's potential on the international esports map. The enthusiastic atmosphere in Hanoi not only motivated the players but also presented an image of a dynamic young generation ready to connect with global-scale entertainment events.
